Our Contribution to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

In 2015, the UN member states resolved a total of 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs) designed to make our planet a better place to live in by 2030. As one of Germany’s leading telecommunications providers, we want to contribute to achieving these goals, and our sustainability strategy focuses on the following SDGs in particular.

Corporate Digital Responsibility – a key action area

As digitalization gathers speed, so our responsibility grows to ensure it happens in a way that is safe and accessible for everyone. We are building bridges to tomorrow’s digital future with our portfolio of high-performance broadband and mobile offerings and by building a 5G mobile network. In line with this, we see ourselves as having a particular digital responsibility.

We Take Digital Participation Extremely Seriously

1&1 wants to contribute actively to ensuring that nobody – regardless of their age, education, or origin – is left behind on the road to digitalization, and to give them the space and opportunity to roam the internet safely and confidently. Protecting our customer data and ensuring the reliability of our products are our top priorities.

Promoting Digital Literacy

Another critical success factor when it comes to the ongoing process of digitalization is to promote the skills needed to use modern technology and media. We use a number of programs and initiatives to increase IT expertise in society, and to educate young people and children in particular about how to use social networks safely and responsibly.
